Auto attendants allow individuals to contact your organization and use a menu system to connect with the appropriate department, call queue, individual, or operator. You have the option to create these auto attendants for your organization using either the Microsoft Teams admin center or Ooma Enterprise Admin portal.
To set up an auto attendant, go to Microsoft Teams admin center. Locate and select the "Voice" option in the left-hand menu of the page to expand it.
Once the content is displayed, choose the "Auto attendant" option.
After that, you will be taken to the "Auto attendants" page, which displays the table of existing auto attendants.
When you are in the process of either creating a new auto attendant by pressing the "+Add" button or modifying an existing one by pressing the "Edit" button, you will come across an additional tab called "Advanced settings." Within this tab, there are five subtabs, which will be explained in detail below.

Resource Accounts Subtab
Within this section, you have the ability to assign resource accounts to the configured auto attendant.
Resource accounts are objects that are not enabled in Azure Active Directory and are required for each auto attendant or call queue in MS Teams. They can be assigned phone numbers when they are used as a calling ID. For additional information on creating and configuring resource accounts in MS Teams, please refer to the relevant article accessible via this link.
All auto attendants must have an associated resource account. First-level auto attendants need at least one resource account that has an associated service number. If you wish, you can assign several resource accounts to an auto attendant, each with a separate service number.
Upon your initial visit to this page, you will encounter the message "You haven't added any resource accounts yet."
To add a new resource account, simply click on the "Add" button. When you click on this button, a pop-up dialog menu will appear on the right side of the window. In this section, you will be guided to use the search bar to find a username of the account you wish to assign to the configured auto attendant.
If you know the username, input it into the search bar and choose the appropriate one from the dropdown list of accessible choices. Furthermore, there's an option to manually create and include a resource account. To accomplish this, type in a minimum of 3 random characters in the search bar, triggering the appearance of the "Add resource account" button.
Once you click on this button, a fresh form will appear, necessitating the configuration of three parameters.
- Display name: in this field, you have the option to define the name by which the newly established resource account will be displayed in the address book.
- Username
- Username: it is the name of the resource account.
- Domain: within this field, you will find a dropdown menu containing a selection of accessible domains. Nevertheless, the default option will be your full Microsoft Tenant name, which you can use as the domain for the resource account you have configured.
For voice features, we recommend that you put in a display name and username that helps to describe how it's used.
- Resource account type: select whether the resource account will be used for an auto attendant or call queue.
Once you click the "Save" button, you will be redirected back to the previous form, where you will notice the inclusion of the newly established resource account within the configured auto attendant. If you intend to delete this resource account, simply click the "X" badge next to its name. Alternatively, if you wish to conclude the procedure, proceed by clicking the "Add" button.
After that, the designated resource account will become visible within the table of assigned resource accounts. As you can see, there is no designated phone number and no associated license for this resource account.
To assign them, choose the resource account from the table and press the "Assign/unassign" button.
The Teams phone resource account license is required to ensure the functionality of the resource account. Be sure that this license is assigned to the corresponding resource account through Microsoft Entra admin center (previously known as Azure Active Directory). In the meantime, the cost for acquiring these add-on licenses is $0. If you want to remove the resource account from the table, select it and press the "Remove" button.
