The OE Desktop App. Contacts Overview

Modified on Fri, 19 May 2023 at 05:37 PM

Description: This Module provides you with intelligent access to your list of contacts, along with an indication of the availability statuses of the individuals included in it.

Every time you launch the Ooma Enterprise Desktop App, the Contacts Module is the default one that you will see.

Upon clicking on the Contacts icon located in the Left-Hand Vertical Menu Bar of the Ooma Enterprise Desktop App, the user interface of the Contacts Module will be displayed in the Main Space of the app.

As you can observe, the Main Space of the app is populated with Contact Cards representing individuals from your list of contacts. You can use the Search Bar of the Top Horizontal Menu Bar in order to search for a certain individual by their name or extension number.

The Contacts Menu Bar can be found below the Top Horizontal Menu Bar.

You can use it to sort and filter the Contact Cards. Additionally, you can create groups and assign individuals from your contact list to them, providing a more convenient means of navigating through your contacts. The "Card View / List View" option at the end of this bar permits you to select how you wish to view your list of contacts: either as a collection of Contact Cards or as a more conventional contact list.

The "Card View / List View" do not differ significantly apart from their visual appearance, and the decision to use either one depends solely on the user's personal preference.

Each line in the List View not only displays the contact's name and phone numbers, but also their email address. Depending on the availability of specific contact details, additional buttons are included to initiate actions such as making a call, sending a message, emailing the contact, or opening a contact card for review.

Each contact card is represented in the format displayed in the image below.

It includes the name of the contact, their extension number, and their current availability status. On the right-hand side of the card, two icons are visible: the "phone" icon initiates a phone call when clicked. In contrast, the "chat" icon directs you to the Chat Module page of the Ooma Enterprise Desktop App, where you can begin chatting with this individual from your contact list.

When you click on a contact card, you can view additional information about the individual, such as their email address.

The "External" tab within this bar pertains to individuals whose contact details have been imported from external sources such as Google or Microsoft. This tab is associated with integrating contacts, and you can read more about this topic in this article.
