Description: Ooma for Microsoft Teams enables you to assign phone numbers to your Microsoft Teams users and resources. Before Direct Routing can be enabled for your organization, and phone numbers assigned to users and resources, please make sure that the following prerequisite requirements are met.
Microsoft Phone System Direct Routing is the service inside of Microsoft Teams that allows organizations to connect external phone lines and use Microsoft Teams as an office phone system.
Microsoft has two main categories of licenses:
- Business (for organizations 1-300)
- Enterprise (for organizations 300+)
Microsoft Teams comes as part of the standard user license bundles:
- Business basic, standard, and premium
- A/E/G 1/3/5
In all cases other than A/E/G 5, users will need to have a Teams Phone Standard add-on license. A complete list of the add-on licenses is given via this link.
The Direct Routing service is bundled with the Microsoft Teams Phone Standard add-on license that is required to establish a connection with a third-party Public Switched Telephone Network (PSTN) connectivity provider, such as Ooma.
The final list of prerequisites appears as follows:
Step 1: Each user requires any of the three main Business Plan Microsoft Teams licenses.
Step 2: Each user also requires one of the following licenses assigned to them:
- Microsoft Teams Phone Standard add-on license, or
- Business Voice without Calling, or
- Microsoft 365 E5 (includes the Phone Standard add-on license).
Step 3: To assign phone numbers to Microsoft Teams resources like Call Queues or Auto Attendants, you will require the Microsoft Teams Phone Resource Account license.
When the correct license is assigned to a user, they will be able to log in to the Microsoft Teams user app, and see a dial pad appeared in "Calls" section of the navigation menu.
Ooma will enable such users with PSTN access at the end of the Ooma for the Microsoft Teams implementation process.
When the correct license have been assigned to your users and resources, you can now provide Ooma with the list of users and the phone numbers that need to be assigned to them.
