The Devices Section. The SIP Tab.

Modified on Fri, Jun 16, 2023 at 1:37 PM

Description: Here you have the option to reconfigure the SIP parameters of the device that is currently set up.

Here you can reconfigure the SIP parameters of the device selected in the Table of Existing Devices located in the Devices Section of the Phone System App.

SIP stands for Session Initiation Protocol, which is a communication protocol used in phone systems to initiate, modify, and terminate real-time sessions that involve voice, video, messaging, and other types of multimedia communication. SIP is widely used in Voice over Internet Protocol (VoIP) systems, which enable phone calls to be made over the internet rather than through traditional phone networks.

The parameters in this section are categorized into two groups:

  • Main parameters
    • Realm:  SIP realm is a domain or a namespace that identifies a set of users and devices that are registered to a particular SIP server or service provider. The SIP realm plays a crucial role in authenticating and authorizing users to access SIP services.

This option is predetermined by the system and cannot be modified.

  • Invite Format: here you can change the format used for SIP requests that initiate communication sessions between devices present within the given SIP realm. Clicking on this field will display a drop-down menu containing a list of available formats.

  • Expire Seconds: here you can change the length of time for which a particular SIP session or registration is valid.

  • Outbound Flags: here you can redefine a specific carrier route out of the system.

This link provides examples of how to utilize the outbound flags.

  • Authentication
    • Authentication Method: here you can change the authentication method for this device. Clicking on this field will display a drop-down list of available options.

  • Username: here you can change the username. Typically it is set by the system.

  • Password: here you can modify the password.

  • IP Address: If you change the authentication method to "IP", you will be presented with the "IP address" field instead of the previously mentioned "Username" and "Password" fields. It is also can be initially set or modified.

Once you have changed some parameters, do not forget to click the "SAVE" button to apply the changes.

The Phone System App will display a green badge with an exclamation mark next to any field that has been modified.

The Phone System App will notify you that leaving the page will result in the loss of any unsaved changes.
