Microsoft Licenses are Purchased and Assigned
Each user that requires a Direct Routing phone number requires the following licenses to be assigned to him or her:
Step 1: Each user requires a Microsoft 365 or Office 365 license. Complete list is available here: https://www.microsoft.com/en-us/microsoft-365/microsoft-teams/compare-microsoft-teams-options?rtc=2
Step 2: Each user also requires one of the following licenses assigned to him / her:
Microsoft 365 Phone System license, or
Business Voice without Calling (available for businesses <300 users, visible to Microsoft partners only), or
E5 Service plan (includes Phone License)
Step 3: If you need a to assign phone numbers to Microsoft Teams' resources (Call Queues and Auto-Attendant, each such resources requires a Virtual User license.
When correct licenses are assigned to a user, the user will be able to login to the Microsoft Teams user application, and see a dial pad in "Calls" part of the navigation menu. Ooma will enable such users with PSTN access at the end of the Ooma for Teams implementation process.
When the correct licenses have been assigned to your users and resources, you can now provide Ooma with the list of users and the phone numbers that need to be assigned to them.
Microsoft Tenant Name is Communicated to Ooma
As a part of Ooma for Microsoft Teams provisioning process, Ooma will connect your Microsoft tenant instance with Ooma Unified Communications service. In order to accomplish that, Ooma's provisioning team needs to know your Microsoft tenant domain (it is your Microsoft Tenant name that ends with .onmicrosoft.com).
